Home for the Holidays!

It was so nice to go home to Baton Rouge for Christmas and New Year’s!  We were VERY busy, but we really enjoyed spending time with our families and friends!  We ate A LOT of good food and we can’t wait to go back again for more!

Snow Day!

We had our first snowstorm of the season!  It starting snowing on Saturday afternoon and continued into the night.  We were out in it during the day because we were running errands and then on Saturday night because we went to Handel’s Messiah at Lincoln Center…it was very pretty!  Since we had to go out that night I took Geoff’s advice and wore my boots going to the performance, so my good heels wouldn’t get ruined – I just switched when we got inside  🙂  He’ so smart!  When we woke up on Sunday morning it had stopped and it was a beautiful sunny day.  We decided to go to Riverside Park and play in the snow!  There were lots of kids sledding and having fun…it was just beautiful!  Geoff let me wear his ski pants, since mine are still at home and I made a snow angel!

Christmas in NYC!

Well we are just starting this blog, so we are a little behind with sharing some of our activities over the past month…however, here is a quick overview of our first Christmas in NYC!  With a week off after the wedding we were getting the apartment organized and planning some fun things to do around town.

Our first outing was to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring The Rockettes!  This was so much fun…Geoff even liked it 😉  I must say the falling soldiers was the most impressive part!

Our next outing was to see The Nutcracker!  We saw George Ballanchine’s The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center.  We had wonderful seats in the orchestra section and the whole performance was amazing!  It truly puts you in the Christmas spirit!  It was SO beautiful…the costumes, the dancing, the sets…everything!  I have asked to go again, but I think I will have to wait until next year!  After The Nutcracker, we braved the masses and went to Rockefeller Center to have our photo taken in front of the Christmas Tree.  It was fun and the tree was beautiful!

Our next trip was to Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center to hear Handel’s Messiah, conducted by Helmuth Rilling…in the snowstorm!!!  It was a wonderful performance and we enjoyed it very much!  Afterwards we trekked across the street and went to dinner at Bar Boulud, Daniel Boulud’s restaurant and it was excellent!  We had YUMMY country pate among other dishes and I had this fabulous Fig Old-Fashioned – bourbon, port, and muddled figs…OMG!!!  It snowed the entire time, which was rather pretty.  All in all it was a stellar evening!
